A beginners guide to essential oils

Essential oils are the extracts from plants, including flowers, leaves, roots, bark… using a steam distillation, cold pressing or CO2 extraction process. They are referred to as “volatile oils”, because they evaporate quickly and will pass more rapidly into body through skin or aromatherapy.

The name Essential(when it comes to oils) comes from the word “quintessential”, which means “possessing the essence of something”. The essence is what describes the essential oils as they are drawn from the very essence of the plant.
